Maths

In Maths I am at the right level for my age. During Maths class we are split into two groups and I go to Miss Ouano’s Class. We are learning things like Adding Decimals, Jumping the Number Line, Adding Hundreds, Tens and ones and  don’t Subtract add. The thing I found hard was to add decimals. I hope to get better and better at this so it is no longer hard for me.

Next year my goal is to be above my Maths.  Math is my favourite subject.

Writing

In writing I am writing at the right level for my age. I think I did good in my writing test. The things we wrote about are Acrostic Poem using our names, Athletics, Film Festival, Guy Fawkes, Orienteering, Holidays and Immersion Assembly. When we went on trips we also had to write about them. Some times it was hard remembering what we did because we were having so much fun.

My goal for next year is to be above in my writing.

Reading

I am reading at 11 years which is one year above my age. I am in the highest reading group in my class. My group is called Marmite. We have read things like Eric’s Greek Travel Diary which is level 30, Do you eat grass? and Fire on the Farm. I don’t know those levels. I really enjoy reading and have learnt lots of new and exciting things. I found doing the activities hard at first but with more practice I got better and better at them.

My goal for next year is to hopefully be reading at age 13.

Topic

Our Topics for this year are Term 1, The Pt England Way, Term 2, Pt England Investigates, Term 3, Life's a Stage and Term 4, What in the World is going on? My favourite topic would be The Pt England Way. I enjoyed this because we got to choose which cultural group we wanted to be in to perform at our  Fia Fia night. I chose Pounamu which is Maori. In these topics we had a Trip. The trips are Ambury Farm, Kelly Tarltons and Youth Town.

I can’t wait to know what next years topics are.

E learning

I thought I would never finish my E learning but I did. I can’t wait til next year so I can do my E learning again. When I do E learning I always think people might laugh at my drawing but no one does so I am happy.

E Learning this year was fun. I think I got a 4/5.

P.E

P.E this year was great. Sometimes I hated it but most of the times I loved it. It was so fun especially cricket. Second it was Basketball then Football.

I can’t wait til next year and my goal is to be happy with anything  even if I’m not good at it.

Conclusion

School was awesome and I wish I didn’t have to leave. I hope next year it can be better and I can have the same teacher and I can be good at everything.

My goal is to be happy and don’t go on anything bad.

Ambassador Application

The reason why I want to be a Ambassador is because it would help me get confident, I want to represent my school and because I want to visit the world. I have talent but no confidence so I'm applying to be an ambassador so I can fell confident. Another talent of mine is that I'm smart, Bright and I like singing. I think LEARN, CREATE AND SHARE is important  because you are Learning it, then you have  to create what you learnt and finally you share it with the world.

Manaiakanlani Film Festival

Yesterday after Morning Tea we had a school Film Festival at Sylvia Park, Hoyts. I was feeling really excited but I wanted to go back to school. It was really cool because it was the first time I’ve never went to the Sylvia Park, Hoyts. My favourite movie was Teen beach movie from Room 14.

 It was like two people one boy and one girl watched a movie and the fell asleep and their dream was they were inside the movie dancing and singing but when they woke up the looked around and found out it was a dream.

 It was my favourite because my friends were in it it was funny. Everything was great I didn’t hate anything. I’m hoping to see me in a movie next time. Athletics Day

On a Sunny Friday we had Athletics and the first item the year 5 girl’s did was Sprinting. I had a buzz of excitement because I came third. I took a deep breath for the next race. I didn’t race the people who came first and second so I just cheered them on. My house colour was Tainui.

I didn’t mind who won because the people that ran are all my friends. The second item was discus but before doing that we had to wait for a funny noise so while we waited we watched the boys do High Jump. I think the first, second and third were Stevenson, Jordan and Collin. When the funny sound came we went to discus and I sucked at it. I always would come last but I was still happy and at least I tried my best.

The third item was Javelin and I sucked at that too. I would always laugh when it was my turn and I would fail. After a while the boys came to watch us because their item was finished and it was my turn and I was so nervous I didn’t want a turn anymore. Suddenly we swapped and we did Sack Racing and Tug of War. I loved sack raced but not so much of tug of war.

My team came first and second I think because we kept cheating. When it came to tug of war we always lost. I couldn’t wait to swap over. Finally we swapped and I was so happy. The item was Baseball throw. I came last in that too. I kept laughing cause we only got one turn each. I tried with my best effort on the next item which was Relays.

I was so happy that it was relays because my team was the fastest team and we always came first. Finally after that we had Shot Put and shot put is my least favourite out of all of the things we did. When it was  my third turn I came third but then someone else knocked me out of place. I was full of laughter.

I didn’t want to do our next item because it was High Jump. I had a try and I tried to do scissors but I failed and I thought they were gonna laugh at me but they didn’t and while we were doing High Jump I was filled with cheer because the clouds were full with grey and it was raining so we all went inside and had a singing competition sadly girls lost.

Fire on a Farm 2

Where in the world is there a bush fire affecting it’s country? There is a Bush-fire in Sydney affecting it’s country.

What are the dangers? People getting hurt or dying.

What’s being affected apart from the trees burning? Houses.

Australian fire authorities believed Wednesday would provide extremely dangerous fire conditions for the Blue Mountains region, west of Sydney, with low humidity and winds gusting up to 100km an hour.

My favourite part of The Bear next door was when the son Josh heard a strange snuffling noise and thought it was a bear but really it was his father snoring.

I liked it when he thought that it could see him and smell him so he put black face paint on his hands, face and feet and he put honey on his hands, face and feet too.

My other favourite bit was at the end when it showed the bear under the bed eating Jumbo Jaffas. It was funny because there really was a bear in the room next door.

A different thing in the story was when he put pillows on his feet because it looked really really silly. After that the light turned on and the mum and dad said “GO BACK TO BED” So Josh did as he was told.

Persuasion Argument

Here is my Persuasion Argument I wrote that is about NZ schools having school from Monday to Thursday and Friday should be apart of the weekends.

In my opinion we should have Monday to Thursday of school and Friday should be apart of the weekends so teachers can have more sleep and they are not grumpy when the come to school. Children could play more and it would be more fun to stay up late.

In my opinion children could learn at home by reading a book or their mum and dad could teach them. If we have Friday with Saturday and Sunday teachers could get more organised and it would be more easier for the children to understand.

I think teachers need to have a good rest and need to stay healthy so they can do a better job and get everything done.

My Wonderful Holiday

 On Saturday my uncle went to his aunties house and he took his Chromebook with him. While I was waiting with my other uncles and brother and sisters for my aunty to pick me and Jazelle up so we can sleep at her house I was playing last card with my brother because I didn’t want to go to my aunties house so I asked her if I could stay home. She said “we are going to do heaps and heaps of cool stuff” but I didn’t want to go so I stayed home. after she left I said to my nan “Can I play on the computer, Please?” My nan said “Ok” and then my brother asked because he was copying me.

 My nan was going to give me a really long turn but my brother ruined it. I only had half an hour so I used my time wisely. When i was playing on the computer he kept annoying me saying “is it my turn yet?” I kept saying “No no no” getting louder and louder. when it was his turn he said “hop off its my turn now” so i hopped off but if he didn’t say that i would’ve done his game. On the last two days of the holidays my mum and dad came over and was playing on my dad’s phone and I kept hugging them because I missed them but on the Saturday I went with my aunty to her house and i said bye to my mum.

 I wanted to stay because of her really yummy cheese cake. When I got to my aunties house Jazelle went to sleep because me and my two cousins were watching horror’s. After that my cousins went to sleep but I didn’t so I went to sleep at my house. My mum told me to sleep on the mattress so I did but it was uncomfortable so then I sat on the couch and fell asleep. When I woke up my brother and my dad were playing the PS3 so I asked in a tired voice if I could play on his phone. Suddenly my mum called to us to have dinner so we went into the kitchen to have dinner. After we had dinner we had some cheese cake it wasn’t as yummy as her first one but I loved it. At 5:00 they had to go so we all said good bye except for my papa because he left on Saturday to his mum’s funeral. We said good bye then they left and after that it was quiet. I missed my mum and dad straight away.

Immersion Assembly

On the first day of the term we had Immersion assembly it was funnier then the other ones. We learned about Celebrations and Farming. Team 4 did Farming and the rest did Celebrations. My favourite bit was team fours one because of my maths teacher pretended to milk a cow. It was funny as and my other favourite bit was when Noah and Miss Walters were eating pancakes and Miss Walters kept putting cream on Noah's face, but instead I just wanted a pancake because the teachers were handing out pancakes.

My Teachers Birthday

Today it was my teachers birthday. People from my class got some presents for her. I was going to get her a  present but I forgot. Today we had chop swewie and we all had one cupcake each. Me and my friends asked how old she is and she said 21 but we all knew that it wasn't true so she told us that we have to guess. My guess is 28. I had a lovely morning and I can't wait until next year.

Esther Continues...

Today in C.R.E Mrs Clarke and Miss Huri came and they were dressed as characters in the story. After Mordecai finished ripping his clothes he told Queen Esther to beg to King Xerxes to change the law that Haman made. Queen Esther said to Mordecai that she might get killed if King Xerxes doesn't hold out his sceptre so she told him to pray for her.

Youth Town

Here is a story about what I did today. It was fun and boring. I hope you like it please leave me a comment.

 Today Room 13 and Room 14 went to Youth Town in the City. When we arrived at Youth Town we had to cross a really fast road so the bus driver told us to stay together. We took a photo then we went inside and a lady guided us to the activity room. We decided what we were going to do first so we went swimming and room 14 went printmaking, but the non-swimmers had to go inside the recreation room. We did all sorts of activities and we played around. My favourite bit was when we went inside the recreation room because we could play Pool, Table Tennis and we can make something that I don’t know about. I was really excited about going to Youth Town because I thought it was big but it wasn't and I thought that I was going to see my friend Adam.

Esther continues.....

Today in C.R.E we learned more about Esther and Mordecai. One day Mordecai heard two guards say "I hate King Xerxes lets kill him." Mordecai told Queen Esther and Queen Esther told King Xerxes. King Xerxes hanged the two guards.

 King Xerxes had a new Prime Minister and the Prime Ministers new rule was when ever he passed people they have to bow to him but Mordecai didn't so Haman (The new Prime Minister) made a law that can't be broken and that all Jewish people have to be killed. Mordecai was so distressed and was ripping his clothes.

We can make good or bad choices. When your in trouble, you can always pray to god. God loves us when we're good and bad but he doesn't want us to be bad forever.

Differences and similarities between Aladdin and the Tortoise and Hare

Aladdin the first

This is the first part of the book Aladdin. I wrote it because my teacher told my class too and she told us to do that because this term we are focusing on life's a stage and Aladdin is a fairy tale so we put it on our blog.

Long ago there lived a boy called Aladdin who lived with his widowed mother in a small village in China. They were very poor and barely had anything to eat. Then one day a strange man came up to Aladdin and said “Aladdin finally. I am you're uncle. I am your father’s brother. My his soul rest in peace. Can you take me to your mother? Is she still alive?” Aladdin felt uncomfortable around him but he took him to his mother. Aladdin’s mother said to him “What did I tell you about talking to strangers?”

Aladdin and his uncle went to a cave in the desert but while they were there Aladdins uncle told him that he wasn’t his uncle and can be his worst nightmare if Aladdin doesn’t listen to him. The strange man needed help because he couldn’t fit inside the hole of the cave. When they got to the cave the man said to Aladdin “Go inside the cave and grab a lamp. You will know which one it is when you see it.” When Aladdin went down the hole he was astonished to find lots of riches and gold and all that strange man wanted was an old tatty lamp and rusty old lamp. He grabbed the lamp and he said “Pull me up.” “Give me the lamp first.” said the man.  “No” said Aladdin “Pull me up first.” “Fine” said the man “You don’t want to give me the lamp you can stay down there.” The man covered up the hole and Aladdin was unable to escape.

Esther

Today in C.R.E Mrs Clarke told us a story about Esther. Esther is a Jew and has a cousin called Mordecai who told her not to tell anyone that she is a Jew. King Xerxes vanished his old queen because she disobade him. He had a beauty contest and Esther was in and she won. We are learning to be and do the best that we can. We can do that by Listening to others, Helping others and always being organised. Here are some photo's for you to look at. I hope you like it please leave a comment. Basketball

This term my class has been playing basketball and here are some things that we did.


For the last five weeks my class has been going to basketball. In basketball we have learned Jump Stop, Defending, Pocket, Foul, Travelling, Shooting, Double Dribble, Bongos, Flick and Arm Guard but first we had to do a warmup. The warmup was line tiggy, Rob chose two people to be the taggers. The taggers had one ball each and started to tag us, if we were tagged then we became the taggers. Promise asked if we could throw the ball but the answer was no. On the next line tiggy who ever got tug they had to go and get a ball and they were in as well. 


If you don’t know how to play basketball or do any of the things above I'll tell you. If you want to Jump Stop you run then you stop, bend you're knees and you shoot the ball but if you already have the ball you just put you're hands up underneath you're chin and you pass the ball to someone. Pocket is when you put the ball by you're hips. A foul is when you touch someone's hand or arm. Travelling is when you dribble then you run with the ball in you're hands. Double Dribble is like Bongos. You have to bend you're knees and bounce the ball with two hands and Double Dribble in basketball is bad. Bongos are just bending and bouncing the ball with two hands but really fast. Arm Guard is when you pocket and bounce the ball and you're arm is up blocking people from getting the ball. Shooting was so fun but we had to do Pocket, Shoulder and Flick that was pretty boring. You can’t Defend by touching them because it will be a foul. 


Before we left we had this sort of competition and my team won. The competition was when you Jump Stop Dribble once and shoot in the hoop. I scored once and wanted to do it again and again. I love basketball now and I wish we can play it everyday.

Is it easy to say "Sorry"?

Today we learned about a story in the bible. It was about Onesimus, Paul and Philemon. Philemon was a rich man, Paul is a man who makes people follow in Jesus and Onesimus was Philemon's slave. Onesimus stole something from his master and ran all the way to Rome. That is where he met Paul who made him follow in Jesus.

Paul wrote a letter to Philemon so that he would forgive Onesimus. Paul told Onesimus to take the letter back to Philemon so he went all the way back to Collosae and went on his knees while Philemon was reading the letter and he begged to forgive him.

I think that it's hard to say sorry because they might not forgive you.
People can say "Sorry will you forgive me." and "Yes I do"

Performing Plays

On Monday 26th of August my class performed our plays. Something that worked was everyone knew their lines. A thing that didn’t worked was we weren't confident enough. I could do better if we knew our lines better clearer and it is like we are the person. The name of my play was called The Kings Parade and the people in my group were Matiu, Juliet, April, Owen, Ben, Sohel, Pj and myself. I felt sad because I had the shortest line but I knew if I was Humpty Dumpty I would ruin it so I let Sohel be Humpty Dumpty. I hope you like it please leave a comment.

Cross Country

Here is my writing about my schools cross country.

On Thursday 22th of August my school had cross country. We had cross country at my school and also the Pt England Reserve next to my school. I think we had cross country so we can get fit. It was boring waiting and it was so hot it felt like I was baking in the sun.

For me cross country is boring but since it was shorter than my other schools one I liked it. Before we ran I said “I’m going to come eighth.” But instead I came ninth and I had a tie. The girl who had a tie with me said to me “We are ninth” and I said “Hahaha that was better than my other schools one.”

I felt happy that I came ninth, I liked that one of my best friends came first and what I didn’t like was that we had to stay in the boiling hot sun but at least it was a nice and sunny day. I really really really hope I can came 2nd or 3rd next time.

Loving and Caring

Life Ed Reflection

What is peer pressure? Who are our peers? Who can make you do things you don’t want to do. What do people need to remember to do?

What does passive mean? What does assertive mean? What does aggressive mean?

Peer Pressure is someone near you're age pushing you to do something good or bad. My peers are 7 year olds to 13 year olds. My friends and family can make me do something I don’t want to do. People need to remember right from wrong. Passive means that you don’t know you're important and if someone tells you to do something bad you do it. Assertive means you are proud of yourself and you are saying everyone is important. Finally aggressive means that you don’t communicate to others.

Three Wolf Fables

This a paragraph I made that is telling you about the story and what I learned.

The first fable was about the wolfs new law. I learned that don’t share with someone you're not going to share with. The second fable was about the dog pretending there was a wedding feast and he would get fat for the wolf. The lesson I learned was strike when you have a chance to. The third fable was about donkey pretending to have a thorn in his foot so he could live. And I learned that you should never be something you're not.

This is my paragraph about what a friend might be.

I am writing this paragraph to tell you what a friend might be. A friend is some who can help you when you are hurt. Who can play with you when you are lonely. A friend is yourself. You're friends can be anyone you choose but my opinion is to pick nice and kind friends.

Friends are important because if you don’t have any friends then everyone can bully you and everyone won’t care. An important characteristic of having a friend is to be kind, an unimportant characteristic of having a friend is if they don’t care about you, and if you want a nice kind friend you have to be nice and kind. life without a friend would be sad and lonely.
