Eel of omaru creek

Once upon a time there was an eel called Jazelle she had eight siblings and thousands of aunties uncles and  cousins. She was the oldest eel out of her siblings. They lived in a river called omaru river it was crystal clean. Then one day these people started throwing rubbish and chemicals in the river and when ever the cars drive past the oil and gas goes in the river don’t like the river because how polluted it is. Every day one would eel always die they wanted to move but they didn’t like salt water. When ever they had to search for their food ( fish grubs)  they would always look but theres only a little bit left because all of them died or run away.  One day Jazelle was about to die but then her came and helped her because she was in the polluted area, when her friends got a little bit sick but they got better. A few weeks went by and Jazelle was looking for another river then she found on raced home told her mum and her was so happy she raced to the government told him then he told the others they moved there and they lived happily ever after.

Omaru river

Once upon a time there was a eel named Martin. He lived in a river called Omaru. It was so clean and it was crystal clear. People loved swimming in it because they liked swimming with the eels. A few years went by and they didn’t want to swim in the river.

Then one day Martin noticed a lot of people started throwing rubbish and chemicals in it. Even when the cars drove past the river, the oil and gas would go into it. So he raced home and said to his mum, “mum the river is turning uninhabitable!”. His mum was shocked and went to the government. She told him that the river was getting dirty. They asked if they could help them but they couldn’t they were so sad.

They went to the end of the river but they didn’t want to go into the sea because it was going to burn their eyes. Then all of them stayed for a while and went to sleep and when they woke the river still did not go dirty when they woke up so they went back and the river and it was clean but the governments eels were dying so Martins family helped them and when they got better we asked them how did the river get so clean and they said “the nice people made a machine and they put it in the river made it go down and got all the rubbish and they made this other machine that sucks up chemicals and gas and oil and then it got clean. Then Martin and his family and friends lived happily ever after.

Testing the north river

This is a document about testing the north river hope you like please leave a comment. 1. What’s a Regional Council? A group of people that look after a region 2. What are control bottles? Explain in your own words Control bottles are bottles that are named like if you put clean water in it then it is “good water” and, if it is water from the river and its dirty then its “bad water” 3. What’s Suspended Solids test? Measuring how much sediment went to the bottom of the bottle 4. What’s a Turbidity test? Seeing if we can see the words on the sheet at the back of all the water 5. Find an image of a Dobson-fly larvae 6. How can people judge the oxygen level of a river? people judge it by seeing if insects live in there or around it 7. What did they find living in the river? fish, shrimp, crayfish 8. What is velocity? how fast somethings going 9. How does Dave calculate the flow of the river? Think about this carefully and explain in your own words!! His pygmy meter has a flat disc at the bottom of the river with a turbine and when the water goes past the turbine it measures how fast it goes 10. What test did they conduct (carry out) to find out the velocity of the river? They put an ice cream container in the river and watched how long it would take to travel five meters This is a photo of a Dobson fly Larvae

Triathlon

On a hot sunny day my class (room 13) and room 14 had triathlon and the activities were riding a bike, running  and water slide. We sat down on the field and listened to the instructor. I didn’t ride the bike because I don’t know how to ride a bike.

I was so bored when I didn’t ride the bike because I just sat down and watched the people ride their bike. When the people riding the bike was finished I ran with them. I was so gutted that I don’t know how to ride a bike. If you rode a bike you would have to put on your helmet and you weren’t allowed to ride you bike in the transit (the place you put the bikes).

If you didn’t bring your togs you couldn’t go on the water slide and you would have to do star jumps, and if you don’t know how to ride a bike you could use training wheels or one of the instructors could push you the way. If there was enough time we could do it again. It went room 13 girls, room 13 boys, room 14 girls and then room 14 boys. It was fun watching and doing it.

My Exciting Easter Break

On Thursday my whole school got some easter eggs but we couldn’t eat them until we got home so when got home we ate a little bit then we had some in the afternoon. When we were finished we watched t.v and played outside. At night time we were still playing outside but when it was our bedtime we went to sleep and woke up again we were waiting until easter.

Me, Jazelle and my aunty and uncle went to pick up my cousin at her house. When we finished picking her up we dropped her off at my other aunties house in Papatoetoe. The next day we woke up and picked my cousin up and stayed at my aunties house for a little bit then we brought some snacks and lollies and an easter egg for my baby sister. The next morning we ate some more easter eggs. When we finished eating some easter eggs we watched t.v but, when it was 8:00 we played outside.
When my aunty and uncle woke up me then Jazelle had a shower then my aunty and uncle had a shower. Then we waited until the afternoon until we went to my other aunties house and I helped my cousin with her easter egg hunt.

When we were finished we watched a movie that my aunty put on the laptop then we had some breakfast and played outside with my other cousin who likes basketball. When we were finished playing outside we came back inside and we watched a different movie. Once we were finished we went home and we watched some movies. Then in the morning we took my cousin home and then we came home and played outside and when my baby sister woke up we played with her. I was so disappointed that school ended for five days.
