Testing the north river

A group of people that look after a region
2. What are control bottles? Explain in your own words
Control bottles are bottles that are named like if you put clean water in it then it is “good water” and, if it is water from the river and its dirty then its “bad water”
3. What’s Suspended Solids test?
Measuring how much sediment went to the bottom of the bottle
4. What’s a Turbidity test?
Seeing if we can see the words on the sheet at the back of all the water
5. Find an image of a Dobson-fly larvae
6. How can people judge the oxygen level of a river?
people judge it by seeing if insects live in there or around it
7. What did they find living in the river?
fish, shrimp, crayfish
8. What is velocity?
how fast somethings going
9. How does Dave calculate the flow of the river? Think about this carefully and explain in your own words!!
His pygmy meter has a flat disc at the bottom of the river with a turbine and when the water goes past the turbine it measures how fast it goes
10. What test did they conduct (carry out) to find out the velocity of the river?
They put an ice cream container in the river and watched how long it would take to travel five meters
